Ioana Triandaf is an applied mathematician specializing in dynamical systems and numerical methods for partial differential equations. She has been modeling swarms since 2004. She is the recipient of the NRL 2005 Alan Berman award for her work on swarming. Since 2017 she collaborated with roboticists in implementing swarming motion on robotic systems. Currently, Triandaf is focusing on analyzing and testing swarm disruption methods and metrics.
Omid Akbarzadeh Pivehzhani is working with Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre since 2016. His main research area is heterogeneous catalysis and catalytic reaction engineering. He has spent 10 years in academic-industrial projects as a research officer and post-doctoral. Omid has worked for 5 years in the oil and gas industry as a chemical engineer. He developed advanced smart catalysts, especially for the oil and gas industries. Omid has contributed to two PETRONAS Research Sdn Bhd industrial catalyst projects and worked on an international Airbus R&D project in NANOCAT. Currently, he is the PI of the graphene catalyst project at Hokkaido University in Japan, a project member of the FRGS grant in UTP, and assigned to the NANOCAT center project. Omid was the Chairman, keynote speaker and organizing committee of many international conferences. He is currently the supervisor of three Ph.D. students from different countries. He has published many ISI papers; book chapters and has two approved and granted patents. Also, he has hands-on experience and passed several pieces of training on handling different types of equipment that are being widely used for material synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation. He is in close collaboration with other departments, government agencies, and universities around the world. He is visiting researcher of Jiangsu University China and Hokkaido University Japan. He is a member of the society of petroleum engineers (SPE) and a Senior Member of the Hong Kong Chemical, Biological & Environmental Engineering Society. Omid was awarded a full fellowship from UTP during his Ph.D. and was involved as a lab demonstrator and teaching in the different courses of chemical engineering. He was awarded Silver Medal in 27th International Invention & Innovation Exhibition (ITEX 2016), Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia, and Silver Medal of Post Graduate Research Project in the 35th Science & Engineering Design Exhibition (SEDEX 35).
Quang Ngoc Ngyun received the B.Eng. Degree in Information Technology, Honor Computer Science Program conducted in English from Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), Hanoi, Vietnam in 2012, and became one of the youngest Faculty members of the Institute. He received an M.Sc. degree and Ph.D. degree from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan in 2015 and 2019, respectively. Currently, he is an Asst. Professor with Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, where he was a Research Associate from 2018 to 2019. He has hosted and participated in many research projects, including the collaborative EU-Japan research projects funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Programme (e.g., the Green ICN and 5G! Pagoda projects), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIC) of Japan. His research has also been funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) of Japan, Waseda University, and Fujitsu Ltd., and Fujitsu Lab. His research interests include Network design, Green Networking, Future Internet, wireless communication systems, beyond 5G (B5G)/6G, Internet of Things (IoT), sensor network, data science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Applied Intelligence, Internet of Vehicles (IoV), combinatorial optimization/multi-objective optimization (MOO), network slicing, Information System, game theory, and technology standardization.
Yousef Daradkeh, Doctor of Science in Computer Engineering and Information Technology (Computer Systems and Computer Software Engineering), is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering and Information Technology at the Department of Computer Engineering and Networks, College of Engineering, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, KSA. He is a Senior Scientific Researcher and the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs. Dr. Daradkeh is a dynamic academician having more than 15 years of experience specializing in teaching and scientific research development. He has also shown his great acumen in administration and has taught a wide spectrum of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Networks, Computer Software Engineering Courses to Undergraduate and graduate students in different capacities. Dr. Daradkeh is a well-known and respected scientist internationally. He received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering at the Department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering from the Technical University of Moldova- specialty in Computer`s, Information Systems and Networks, and his M.Sc. degree in Software Engineering from the (Belarusian National Technical University-specialty s in Software of Information Technology. His Ph.D. degree is in Computer Engineering and Information Technology from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in two specializations: System Analysis, Control, and Processing of Information; “Mathematical and Software of Computers, Complexes, and Computer Networks. He has been working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Specialty Systems, Networks and Devices of Telecommunications at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. He has also worked for the Department of Computer Information Systems at the faculty of Systems and Information Technology, The University of Jordan. To name a few Dr. Yousef has worked in the Department of Information Technology at the Al-Balq`a Applied University, in addition to the Computer and Information Centre at the Jordan University of Science and Technology. He was also an Instructor at, Computer and Information Centre, Yarmouk University, faculty at the Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science, the faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, AL-Hussein Bin Talal University, faculty Department of Software Engineering at the Faculty of Sciences and Information Technology, Jadara University. Above all Dr. Yousef has the credit to have worked at the Intelligent Software Systems Laboratory in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Calgary, Canada. He has excellent experience in designing courses that bridge the gap between academia and industry as well as following the accreditation requirements. He has published over 90 high-quality refereed research papers in international Journals and Conferences. He has also published two books and an Edited Book in the most prestigious publications. The international recognition of his scientific achievements is demonstrated by numerous invitations to participate in the program committees of international conferences and foreign journals, as well as lecturing at renowned scientific centers around the world. He is the recipient of the Higher Distinction Scientific Certificates and Awards from the International Universities. His scientific research interests are related to the study of Wireless Networking, Modeling of Discrete Systems, Design of Computer Systems and Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Web Development, Java Programming Language, Databases, Agent-Based Software Engineering, Context-aware computing, and Problems of cyber-security, Problems of information and economic security, LBS and geo services, Knowledge representation and reasoning, E-learning, E-government applications, and its usage impact. Among other projects, his research interests are based on how the digital world can impact human daily life and how computers and networks can help to deal with information overload, Services in management systems, educational processes, and scientific activity. Depending on his ambition and activity, he is insisting to satisfy his plans in the future. He has Peer-reviewed many International Journals and Conferences, He is currently an active Member of Editorial Boards, Scientific Committees, and Advisory Committees in Several International Journals and Conferences. He is experienced in local accreditation and ABETS accreditation. Last but not the least, he has conducted several workshops in KSA for University faculty members on how to write international peer-reviewed papers for which he has been greatly appreciated.
Marios Sophocleous, (IEEE 17) (male) is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Cyprus. He received his M.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Southampton in 2011 and 2016, respectively. During his studies, he won two scholarships for being ranked in the top 10 students of the year and also won the Jim Graham Prize for the Best Experimental Project of the year for his 3rd-year project. Throughout the last two years of his Ph.D., he also worked as a Patent Analyst and Innovation Consultant at IP Research Ltd, where he worked with major, European engineering companies on strategic innovation techniques. In 2016, he joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the University of Cyprus as an administrator of COST Action IC1401: “Memristors - Devices, Models, Circuits, Systems and Applications (MemoCiS)”. At the time, he also worked on the development of a medical sensing system to be used in a pilot project with Areteion Hospital (Provisional Patent submitted and funding awarded 2019). In 2017, he worked on a FET Open project “VISORSURF - A Hardware Platform for Software-driven Functional Metasurfaces”. In 2018, he was awarded one of the 10 prestigious scholarships from the University of Cyprus “Post-Doctoral Researchers-Advanced Level” on the development of a low-cost impedance spectroscopy probe for harsh environments”. In 2019 he was the recipient of a Didaktor project, funded by the National Research and Innovation Foundation of Cyprus, on the development of Thick-Film sensors for precision agriculture applications. During his time at the University of Cyprus, Marios has co-supervised a team of undergraduates who competed in the CASS student competition and ranked top 4 in the world. He further co-supervised another team that was ranked 1st in a national innovation competition from IDEA Cy, on a data acquisition system for precision agriculture sensors. Marios is a member of IEEE, IEEE Sensors Council, IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, Technical Chamber of Cyprus, and an Associate Member of IMechE. He serves as a reviewer in multiple, very well-respected journals such as IEEE Sensors, IEEE Sensors Letters, Analytica Chimica Acta, Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, Sensors Journal, and many others. He also serves as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Sensors and Actuators A: Physical and Microelectronics International Journal.
Tayfun DEDE has completed his Ph.D. at the age of 30 years from Karadeniz Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering, and visiting scholar research studies at the age of 39 years from the Czestochowa University of Technology in Poland. Yung-Yao Chen received his Ph.D. (2013) degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University - West Lafayette, IN, USA. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Graduate Institute of Automation Technology and Chief of the Chinese Language Training Center (CLTC), National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), Taipei, Taiwan since 2018. His current research interests include computer vision, vision-based automation, pattern recognition, color image processing, imaging systems, machine learning, and human-computer interaction. Dr. Chen was a recipient of the First Prize Paper Award of the 2015 International Conference on Advanced Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Best Paper Award of the 2018 International Conference on Communications, Computation, Network and Technologies, and Excellent Award of 2019 IEEE Signal Processing Society Taiwan Electronics Design Contest. He is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and Phi Tau Phi.
