Title: Analysis of extreme weather events in Northern Italy in the last 30 years

Biography: Paolo Corazzon, graduated in 1995 at the University of Physics in Milan, Italy. In 1997 he entered the Centro Epson Meteo as a meteorologist and in 2013 he joined 3BMeteo, the most important private weather center in Italy. Since 2000 he is the weather forecaster in many italian TV and radio stations. He teaches meteorology at high school and collaborates with lots of newspapers as expert in weather and climate. He holds lessons and conferences concerning global warming and climate changes in many occasions. Recently he has been qualified as meteorologist certificate, according to new rules in italian meteorology arrangements.

Title: Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) to Study the Effects of Tillage Systems on Crop Growth and Yield.

Biography: Dr. Juan Landivar Bowles earned a bachelor’s degree in crop science in 1976, a master’s degree in plant genetics in 1979 and doctorate in crop physiology in 1987, from Mississippi State University. In 1988, joined the Texas A&M System as a cropping systems expert at the Corpus Christi center. Areas of expertise include development of management strategies for the use of growth regulators in cotton and for helping to develop a Crop Weather Station Network with simulation models and management tools for cotton and sorghum farmers. In 1998, Landivar joined Delta and Pine Land Co. as director of research and technical services for Latin America. Before returning to Corpus Christi, Dr. Landivar served as vice-president of the company’s board of directors’ joint ventures in Brazil. Currently (2008 to date) serves as Center Director at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Centers at Corpus Christi and Weslaco Texas, where he directs programs in the development of cropping systems for Cotton, Sorghum, Wheat, Citrus, Sugar Cane and Vegetables for South Texas, the development of mariculture technology, Beef Cattle reproductive physiology and nutrition and in the development of sustainable biofuel production systems.

Title: Quantifying household resilience with high frequency data: Temporal dynamics and methodological options

Biography: I am Lead Economist at Cooper/Smith, a startup encouraging the use of data for decision-making in the International development space. I have a PhD in applied economics from Cornell University. I wrote my dissertation on resilience measurement in the context of poverty and climate change. I work on applying a resilience paradigm to impact evaluation by combining on the ground and remote-sensing data. I have ongoing projects in Malawi, Madagascar and Cameroon.

Title: Conceptualizing gendered vulnerability to climate change 1 in the Hindu Kush Himalaya: Contextual conditions and drivers of change

Biography: Chanda Gurung Goodrich is the Senior Gender Specialist–Gender Lead in the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Kathmandu, Nepal. She has a PhD in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Her professional specialization is in gender and participatory research and development. She has around 20 years of experience in the not-for-profit research and development sector with various international and regional organizations, specialising in integrating social and gender equity concerns, issues and perspectives into research and development programmes/projects. Her work has been in various sectors – livelihoods, agriculture, water, natural resource management and conservation, rural development, food & nutrition security, poverty alleviation, value chains, economic empowerment, climate change & adaptation. Dr. Goodrich has been involved, and most often leading, in developing strategies, plans and frameworks for gender integration and transformation as also developing tools and methods to explore issues of social and gender inequality and exclusion; and gendered vulnerabilities (and capacities).

Biography: Carlos Oliveira Augusto (Ba, MSc) is a researcher, teacher and ecopreneur with background in Civil Engineering, Architecture and Management. He is the CEO & Founder of FACTOR4Sustainability, an innovative company specialized in Sustainability, Circular Economy and Sustainable Construction. He has co-organized and launched in 2017 the first post graduated course on Circular Economy in Portugal and has published in several proceedings and jounals. Together with CITAD and the Portuguese Agency for Science, Research and Technology (FCT) has launched a book on Sustainble Construction. He is Ambassador of Alliance SDGs Portugal with special focus on Goal 9: Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

Title: Water related Internal Displaced People in central and southern Iraq- a model to explore impact of CC and mapping risk for water availability, water quality and IDP

Biography: Dr. Ker Rault combines training and experience in integrated water resources management. Educated as an environmental engineer from Imperial College, he started his career as a process engineer for a drinking water and wastewater company.. After some experience in Iraq and Afghanistan as a WASH Expert for an aid relief NGO, he obtained a PhD in water policy from Cranfield University, UK. The thesis addresses societal complexity to water management (EUWFD): which type of public participation for with type of water management challenges; a wicked process for a complex societal problem? He has considerable experience in participative workshops, questionnaire design, social survey, policy design, revue and evaluation in Africa (Mali), Europe and MENA, as well as in leading projects in remote areas. Philippe contributed to the EU funded projects Globaqua and Mad4Water as WP leader where he developed the concept of participative valuation of ecosystem services. Philippe is now engaged in complex integrated development projects, including IWRM, adaptation to climate change, connecting the potential impact of climate change on water resources, ecosystem services and livelihood (Mali) and IDPs (Iraq), and Water Energy Food nexus for Deltares with a special focus on African counties. He also enjoys lecturing, student supervision and capacity building for professionals

Title: The evolution of the relevance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors as a new way for creating value in the economy

Biography: Elena Rusci is a consultant by profession and works in the Climate Change and Sustainability Services at EY in Milan, Italy. She holds a BA in Political, Social and International Relations from the University of Bologna, while being an international fellow at University of Stockholm, Sweden and at the Universade Federal do Piauí, Brazil. In 2017 and 2018 she focused on specializing her management and sustainability related skills by attending in 2017 the MA in political management at the LUISS School of Government, and in 2018 the MSc in Management of Sustainable Development Goals at the Lumsa University, a joint program with the United Nations, Candriam, the World Bank and the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development (Holy See, Vatican). Besides being passionate about environmental policy, she is currently focusing on corporate sustainability with a particular attention on sustainability reporting and more broadly on non-financial performances reporting of large enterprises. She has experience in international organizations, public institutions and social enterprises as she was a researcher for Climate-KIC and winner of the business plan competition “sustainable solutions for the Dolomites” with the project “Floating innovation”, organized from the urbanist department of the Autonomous Province of Trento. She is an environmental activist and is the promoter in Trento of the “move the date of the earth overshoot day” campaign. She is also part the Secretariat of ASVIS - Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development-.

Biography: Dr. Abdeen Mustafa Omer (BSc, MSc, PhD) is an Associate Researcher at Energy Research Institute (ERI). He obtained both his PhD degree in the Built Environment and Master of Philosophy degree in Renewable Energy Technologies from the University of Nottingham. He is qualified Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record within the water industry and renewable energy technologies. He has been graduated from University of El Menoufia, Egypt, BSc in Mechanical Engineering. His previous experience involved being a member of the research team at the National Council for Research/Energy Research Institute in Sudan and working director of research and development for National Water Equipment Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Sudan. He has been listed in the book WHO’S WHO in the World 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010. He has published over 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 200 review articles, 17 books and 150 chapters in books.

Biography: Evangelos Koumentakos is a Greek national who has lived in Italy and Poland and studied international law and international relations. He currently lives with his family in Belgium, Brussels, where for the past four and a half years he has worked as an senior policy adviser for European Farmers and Agro-cooperatives. His areas of responsibility were climate change, sustainability, soil, waste, emissions, and air quality, and played a key role in a number of concrete policy initiatives, which are intricately linked to climate and environment, such as the National Emissions Ceiling, Common Agricultural Policy, Emission Trading System, Land Use Land Use Change and Forestry, etc. In addition, he participated in different policy discussions and international fora such the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conferences Of Parties, the Sustainable Development Goals EU Platform, etc. Evangelos can speak and write in French, English, Italian, Polish and Greek and he is a convinced European and supporter of activism.
