In his role, Dr. Ellahham has led the development of a quality and safety program that has been highly successful and visible and has been recognized internationally by a number of awards. As Chief Quality Officer and Global Healthcare Leader, Dr. Ellahham has a focus on ensuring that that implementation of this best practices leads to breakthrough improvements in clinical quality and patient safety.Dr. Ellahham is a recognized leader in quality, safety, and the use of robust performance improvement in improving healthcare delivery. He serves on a number of US and international committees and advisory bodies. Dr. Ellahham is Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) by The National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ). He is Certified in Medical Quality (CMQ) by The American Board of Medical Quality (ABMQ). He is the recipient of the Quality Leadership Award from the World Quality Congress and Awards and the Business Leadership Excellence Award from World Leadership Congress in 2015. Biography: Dr Mahadeo is an Associate Professor, leading a research group at University College London in the UK. She has been a principal investigator actively involved in medical research since 1992 and has carved a niche in studying how transcriptional regulation of gene expression can control the fate of normal cells and changes that contribute to diseases e.g. cardiovascular disease or cancer. Our research has been primarily based on analysing the molecular mechanisms through which transcriptional master regulators control gene expression and cell fate in different tissues and under different conditions. Specifically, we have focused on the POU IV subgroup of homeobox transcription factors, which includes POU4F1/Brn-3a and POU4F2/Brn-3b that can drive complex changes in multiple cellular processes such as cell specification, proliferation and survival/apoptosis, in a tissue-specific manner. Pioneering studies undertaken by this research group has shown how these DNA binding proteins can mediate diverse effects on gene expression and cell fate by interaction with other co-expressed regulators e.g. p53, thereby increasing the complexity by which expression and cell fate are governed. Our recent research, using in-vivo studies (knockout mice) or in-vitro models (using shRNA or siRNA targeting) have identified novel and important functions for this family of transcription factors in maintaining cardio-metabolic homeostasis since loss of regulators such as Brn-3b can cause metabolic dysfunction e.g. hyperglycaemia/insulin resistance and associated adverse cardiovascular remodelling altered responses to cardiac stress. Our research will be pivotal for helping to understand the complex mechanisms that control gene expression and cell fate during development and to identify changes that can lead to pathological responses to injury or cause cardiovascular diseases.

Biography: Saima Rajpali is a Staff Nurse in King Faisal Specialist Hospital Saudi Arabia. Previously, she worked in the capacity of Nurse Instructor in Consulting Clinic, Assistant Head Nurse in Oncology Unit and as a Critical Care Nurse in Bone Marrow Transplant and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi. Her key responsibilities includes skills and knowledge in administration of chemotherapy drugs, monitoring its side effects, dealing with Bone Marrow and Stem Cells Transplantation, work as a resource person for Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant staff, patients and family etc.

Biography: Ljudmila Stojanovich received her Ph.D. in Medicine, with the thesis “Neuropsychiatric manifestations in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus” in 1999. She is the scientific director in the Bezhanijska Kosa, University Medical Center of Belgrade University, where she is currently a Full Research Professor. Dr. Stojanovich’s research focuses on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Antiphospholipid Syndrome, and Vaccination in patients with Autoimmune Rheumatic diseases. She is an author of three monographs and of about 250 articles on various aspects of Autoimmune Rheumatic disorders, published in international and domestic journals and in conference proceedings.

Biography: Jenny-Lynn V. Juhuri was born in Jolo, Sulu, a small island located at the South of the Philippine archipelago. She has completed her Medicine studies from University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. She took her Internal Medicine residency training at Makati Medical Center, Philippines and Cardiology fellowship at Philippine Heart Center, Philippines. She presented case reports and studies on the past years on several conventions held in Japan, Hong Kong and Korea. She currently works with some of the private hospitals as well as a government hospital in the Philippines.

Biography: Dr. Jian-Chiun Liou received a Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Nanoengineering and Microsystems, National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2009. He joined the Printing Technology Development and Manufacturing Section of the Optoelectronics and Systems Laboratories at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Hsinchu, in 1999, where he focused on the ink-jet printing system. Since 2005, he has been a Project Leader working on a new MEMS architecture design and display application in the Electronics and Optoelectronics Research Laboratories, ITRI. In August 2014, he joined the faculty of the National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences (KUAS). In August 2017, he has joined the School of Biomedical Engineering, Taipei Medical University(TMU), Taipei 11031, Taiwan. Currently, he is a Professor of School of Biomedical Engineering at the TMU. His research interests are in the fields of Optoelectronics, ASIC design, bio- chip technology, optical MEMS technology, integration of ink-jet printhead processes, and display technology. He is a holder of 71 patents on ink-jet printheads, MOEMS, MEMS, and has written more than 28 SCI Journal papers and 38 conference technical papers on MEMS, optical-N/MEMS, and display-related and micro-/nanofluidics related fields. He has also co-chaired many conference technical sessions and has been an invited speaker in many related events.
