Motorways: There is a toll for using motorways a motorway sticker (Autobahnvignette) must be obtained at the Austrian border. It can be bought at any post office or tobacconist’s shop (Traffic) in Austria, border posts and motorway service areas.
Public transport: There are various price deals for travel. A single ticket (for a trip through the town in one direction) costs an average of €1.80‑2.20. However in many towns, there are daily, weekly, monthly or annual passes as well as special deals for tourists. Single tickets and multi-ride cards can be obtained from machines at the bus stop , stations and on the transports in towns. The tickets can also be bought in advance from tobacconist’s shops .In rural areas, buses and rail services are the modes of transports. The individual tickets and season tickets can be bought from the driver. A ticket for a journey of some five kilometres costs an average of €2.00. If transport services are used within a town, a reduced local fare is to be paid often. There are discounts for certain passenger categories (children, pensioners, students).
Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB): Tickets can be bought at any station, from travel agents, ticket machines (regional transport) and from the conductor (intercity trains, a €3.00 service charge is here added to the ticket price), as well as over the Internet.
