Dr. Mahadevappa Y. Kariduraganavar obtained his Master degree in 1988 and Doctoral degree in 1993 from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He joined Flora International Ltd., Bangalore as Manager (Operation). Prior to this, he was also working as Research Assistant Grade-I in the Institute of Wood Science & Technology, Bangalore. In 1997, he joined Department of Chemistry, Karnatak University, Dharwad as Lecturer and was subsequently appointed as Professor of Physical Chemistry in 2007. He did his Post-Doctoral study during 2007-2008 under the prestigious Commonwealth Fellowship Program at J. J. Thomson Physical Laboratory, Polymer Science Centre, University of Reading, UK. He has also established a Collaborative Research Programme with the University of Reading, UK. Dr. Kariduraganavar has participated as a Panel Expert at the International Conference held at Bangkok, Thailand in 2011. In 2002, he presented a paper in International Euro membrane Conference held at London, UK. During this period, he also gave a special lecture on Ion-Exchange Membranes for Electrodialysis Applications at Imperial College, London. In 2013, he presented a paper in International Conference held at Dubai. During 2015, he worked for two months on Tissue Engineering for Bone Regeneration and Shape Memory Polymers at Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP), Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPL), Portugal along with 3 of his Ph.D. students as a Visiting Professor. He was the instrumental and Convener of an International Conference on Direct Digital Manufacturing and Polymers (ICDDMAP- 2015) held at Karnatak University, Dharwad and also he gave an Invited Talk during the same conference. Recently, he has visited Charite University and Max Planck Institute, Germany; Center for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP), Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPL), Portugal along with Vice-Chancellor, Dean Faculty of Science and Director of HRDC, Karnatak University, Dharwad to established the collaborations with these institutes. Very recently, he has given a Keynote Lecture on Smart Biopolymers at International Conference on Advanced Research in Sustainable and Intelligent Manufacturing (RESIM- 2016) held at Center for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP), Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal in December 2016. Dr. Kariduraganavar has got two US Patents to his credit on Ion-exchange Membranes for Electrodialysis Applications. One of his patents has got first rank in US patent rankings. He has published around 110 papers in international journals of high repute and 10 book chapters in reputed international books. He also contributed a report on Food, Water, Energy Nexus to be published in UNESCO reports in association with Prof. Seeram Ramakrishna, National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore. Of late, he is working as Coordinators of UPE-FAR-I and DST-PURSE-Phase-II Programs. The grant of UPE-FAR-I is 11 crores and DST-PURSE-Phase II program is of 16 crores. Also, he is a Subject Coordinator of CPEPA Program, which has grant of Rs. 8 crores. He has already completed 5 major research projects funded by the DST, AICTE and UGC, New Delhi. He is working as Consultant to Padmini Aromatics Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. His major research fields are: Ion–exchange Membranes for Electrodialysis and Fuel Cell Applications, Composite and Dense Membranes for Pervaporation Applications, Polymeric Nonlinear Optical (NLO) Materials for Optonic Devices, Liquid Crystalline Polymers for Optical Devices and Development of Nanofibers for Tissue Engineering Applications, Development of Polymeric Carriers for Tumor Targeted Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) and Supercapacitors. So far, he has guided 13 students for Ph. D. degree and two students for M. Phil degree. Presently 9 students are pursuing Ph. D. degree under his guidance and one student is doing Post-Doctoral study. Considering his research contribution Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka conferred him Sir C. V. Raman Young Scientist State Award in 2010. He was awarded the Best research publication Award in 2011 form Vision Group of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka. Also, he has received the Best Research Publication Award from Karnatak University, Dharwad in 2015 among the Science Faculty. Very recently, he was awarded the Adhayapaka Bhushana Award by Karnatak Adhyapak Parishad (KAP) and Karnataka Rajya Madhyamik Shikshaka Sangha.
