Sessions

Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatment. Branches of specialty include hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, non-permanent hair removal such as waxing and sugaring, and permanent hair removal processes such as electrology and intense pulsed light (IPL).

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories: reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns. While reconstructive surgery aims to reconstruct a part of the body or improve its functioning, cosmetic (or aesthetic) surgery aims at improving the appearance of it.

Maxillofacial Surgery is a surgical specialty focusing on reconstructive surgery of the face, facial trauma surgery, the oral cavity, head and neck, mouth, and jaws, as well as facial cosmetic surgery.

Trichology is the para-medical science of the hair, hair loss and associated scalp problems. It encompasses the study of the diseases of the human hair and scalp, as well as the assessment of the cause(s) and treatment of these disorders.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. It is a speciality with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages diseases related to skin, hair and nails and some cosmetic problems.

Dermato-Oncology is cancers that arise from the skin. They occur due to the development of abnormal cells that can invade or spread to other parts of the body. There are three main types of skin cancers: basal-cell skin cancer (BCC), squamous-cell skin cancer (SCC) and melanoma. Melanomas are the most aggressive. Melanomas include signs like a mole that has changed in size, shape, colour, has irregular edges, has more than one colour, is itchy or bleeds. Greater than 90% of cases are caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the Sun. This exposure increases the risk of all three main types of skin cancer.

Cosmetic dentistry term refers to dental work which improves the appearance of teeth and gums. It primarily focuses on the improvement of dental aesthetics in colour, position, shape, size, alignment, and overall smile appearance. Cosmetic dentists should have a specific education, specialty, training, and experience in this field. Cosmetic dentistry is mostly used for aesthetic purposes. Treatments like dental bonding, fix worn edges, or hairline fractures helps to reduce the wear of the vulnerable areas. It is important to select the right dentist to perform cosmetic dental surgery.

The word ‘cosmeceutical’ is becoming more routine in the sphere of natural organic skincare. It describes a product that is a blend of ‘cosmetic’ and a ‘pharmaceutical’. A cosmeceutical is basically a skincare product that contains a biologically active compound that is believed to have therapeutic effects on the skin. They are products with bioactive ingredients claimed to have medicinal or drug-like benefits

Skin cancer is an abnormal growth of skin cells. It generally develops in areas that are exposed to the sun, but it can also form in places that don’t normally get sun exposure. The two main categories of skin cancers are defined by the cells involved.

Cosmetic dermatology is a specialized field of dermatology that focuses on procedures that improve appearance of the skin, particularly on the face and neck. Cosmetic dermatology goes further than cosmetic skincare and minimally invasive procedures such as injections are routinely performed.
